We are so lucky to have so much interest in this blog! I would like to introduce Jennifer Lucas from Spring Valley Chiropractic. Jenn is an avid AlterG fan, utilizing the machine in a relatively new way: Weight Loss! Jenn will be posting each Wednesday, which we have titled: “Weight Loss Wednesdays” to share her journey with you as she travels down the road to reach her goal weight with the help of the AlterG. Here is Jenn’s first post!

Weight Loss Wednesday
The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill™ has not only been instrumental in rehabilitating a recent injury I suffered; it has revolutionized my ability to burn calories safely and comfortably, resulting in dramatic weight loss.
My name is Jennifer Lucas and I will be writing to you weekly to not only give you informative information regarding the AlterG, but also to post my progress in my goal to lose 25 more lbs using the AlterG, in addition to a balanced diet. I am not a nutritionist nor am I an expert of the AlterG however I have quickly become a number one fan of the AlterG. I was introduced to the AlterG during my visit at Spring Valley Chiropractic in Dallas Texas, I was coming off a running injury, I had torn two ligaments and fractured a bone in my left foot while training for a half marathon. I was in a cast for 6 weeks and unable to perform any cardiovascular exercise. During those 6 weeks what happened to me was a woman/man’s worst nightmare. Not only did I gain back all the weight I had worked so hard to get off while training, I gained about 10 additional pounds. Because of the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill I am able to get back to my routine and cardio exercise quicker than I would if I had to run on a regular treadmill or outside on the concrete.
If you are not familiar with this fantastic piece of equipment the AlterG, here is a quick background. It is a NASA technology that allows you to run at a fraction of your body weight. So to make the math easier lets say I weigh 200 lbs, and because I weigh 200 lbs I cannot run very long for several reasons, my joints hurt when running or I simply just can’t run for more than 5 minutes before I am so out of breath and feel like I am going to collapse. On the AlterG I can run comfortably and safely, as if I weigh 100lbs or better yet 50lbs. When I run with the chosen amount of body weight that is comfortable for me, I am able to run for 30-40 minutes at a time and at a speed I never thought was possible. It is truly amazing.
Quickly some background about me: I am 27 years old and have been struggling with weight since I was a sophomore in college. Since I was 18 years old I have had many hormonal in balances which resulted in lack of a menstrual cycles pretty much all my years. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 3 years ago and also suffer from a very stressful job. With that said I have ALL odds against me. So If I can do it, ANYONE can.
Okay so now I am going to reveal my starting weight, yet another woman’s WORST nightmare. However I am determined and 100% confident that I will reach my weight loss goal and I am putting it out there for everyone to monitor.
My starting weight 4 weeks ago was 155, in the last 4 weeks I have lost 10 lbs, so my current weight is 145. As I stated previously my weight loss goal is to lose 25 more pounds, which would bring me to 120. I encourage everyone who also has a weight loss goal to follow my blogs weekly, ask questions, post comments and if you can find an AlterG near you, get started on your goals today. Let’s attack our swimsuit body goals together.
Each week I will post my exercise and food diary for ALL to see. More specifically I will post each time I am on the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill and for how long I run and at what speed. This is truly a revolution for anyone that is determined to lose weight. We can burn double the calories with what seems to be less effort.
Please note that this weight loss program is supervised and monitored by Dr Brian Riggs whom currently practices at Spring Valley Chiropractic in Dallas Texas, his services are Chiropractic, weight loss and sports injury. Throughout the blogs I will mention more about him and his involvement with reaching my goals. If you have any questions for him, please leave a comment here.
